Re: Spike's Art and Sketches
That came out boss man! I really like that you didn't use colors with high saturation. Really great work all around brother!

Re: Spike's Art and Sketches
Thanks Joe! Yeah I was surprised how well it turned out honestly I was expecting a huge blob or streaks of color. I used Strathmore Bristol board and man it soaks up the marker nice, hardly any bleeding what so ever.

My Batman for the scratch jam on deviantart. The mesh pattern on the costume wasn't taken from a template or image, I made it all myself.

Re: Spike's Art and Sketches
Well here is another attempt at markers. Not as happy with this one as I was Vegeta but it's really difficult covering large areas w/o getting streaking. I tried going fast, doing the whole circle thing didn't matter these Prismas dry super fast. I still think it's successful just not totally how I wanted it.

Re: Spike's Art and Sketches
The streaks are not a bad thing. They add that organic texture to it. I think it came out great! My one critique would be to try using a little more value. Don't be afraid to experiment with other colors on the skin. Some cool colors will make the skin pop! Also some darker colors on the costume will add another element of depth. Keep doing your thing Justin. I am very impressed with your growth dude!

Re: Spike's Art and Sketches
Prismacolor markers are alcohol based (something like denatured alcohol) which is supposed to prevent any streaking. Here's the kicker though... You'd have to allow the ink to saturate over the paper long enough to spread evenly, basically tinting the paper through and through. If you move quickly, you'll only create these streaks.
Since Prismacolors (or any type of designer markers) aren't cheap, many artists are understandably hesitant to spend so much color in one piece. You'd need a new set of markers sooner than later.
So, if you don't mind having to go through your markers, go over these large areas a few times. The streaks will cease to exist after 3 coats or so. Depending on how slow or fast you work on your phttp://b1narcomicunderworld.runboard.com/p11567,pleasedo=edit#iece.

Re: Spike's Art and Sketches
That seems a bit tedious and expensive. I suppose I'll just have to work the streaks in to the pieces or just use my Copics they seem to not be as bad at all. Thanks for the info Nar. Here is one I just finished up last night.

Re: Spike's Art and Sketches
Yup. Liking that you're working with shadows too. I find it very challenging at times, just trying to understand where certain shadows should look, depending on the light source or multiple light sources*.
Especially when coloring a piece.
Keep up the great work and thanks for sharing, buddy.
