Re: Street Fighter IV Gameplay (Me throwin' down...)
the physics of the game must differ from the 2 systems. when some one does kens ultra and i shot a haduken at them it stops him from continuing the ultra combo unlike what was shown in ur video. Also the gen downwards flying stops feilongs ultra combo everytime.
But not to sound like mark.....but i think i might be able to beat you too jon. You do seem to adapt to other players style of play pretty fast though.

Re: Street Fighter IV Gameplay (Me throwin' down...)
Heh yeah first round I usually get beat down or close to it, that's basically my learning match. I'm not trying to lose, but read what the other player will do.
Lets do it man! You got a 360, get one of those 1 month subscription card's for like $10 and let's tear it up!
Judging by what you said about the Ultra's you bought it for PS3 though huh...?
As for Ultra's, they pretty much go through everything on 360. A hadouken will stop Akuma's Raging Demon, M. Bison's Psycho Crusher or whatever it's called, Balrogs Ultra, and Fei Longs Ultra.
Gen's downward kick didn't stop it I don't think because it was a wake-up Ultra, had he performed the move after I performed the Ultra I think it would of. My plan was to time it so he'd be coming down and couldn't block it.

Pulling another G2 Tournament win last night... The Final in this one I had pretty much lost, it was a game of chess. I got very lucky here...

Re: Street Fighter IV Gameplay (Me throwin' down...)
Hitting a guy in the back with an ultra combo fireball? Tsk tsk...
Hey, are you using the regular xbox controller? I really don't like the hp and hk buttons being trigger buttons. Really pulls me out of 'pace' (so I wind up using mostly weak and medium attacks). Also, the cross pad on the PS controller is not really that SF-friendly (since they are directional buttons rather than an actual cross pad).
I was seriously thinking of getting one of the Madcatz SF pads (they have a better, single piece cross pad, and all 6 buttons on the face of the controller).

Re: Street Fighter IV Gameplay (Me throwin' down...)
Yeah I'm on a reg 360 controller, I didn't like that setup either so I just remapped the button's in the game settings. They were askin' everyone over on the Capcom boards what their controller and button layout is, this is how I have mine:
I've played on the Madcatz SF pad too, it's not bad. Thing I didn't like about it is it's so light there's no real weight to it, and w/a 360 controller there's rumble support. If you're hardcore man, get a stick. I know Hori EX Sticks go for about $40 at gamestop (least they were a few months ago) and that's the same price as the pad.

It's sold out on buy.com, and from what I'm seeing on Amazon.com, I believe they're out of production (and going for upwards of a few hundred dollars!).

Re: Street Fighter IV Gameplay (Me throwin' down...)
Man... Arcade Sticks have become popular again all of a sudden, I looked online and couldn't find any good brands for under $80-$100.
Anyways, I finally beat the G2 Tournament with someone other then Ryu. Made it there with Ken and finished it with a nice Ultra Combo finish hehe.

Re: Street Fighter IV Gameplay (Me throwin' down...)
Ha! You say that like Ken and Ryu are two different characters... :nahnah:
Actually, I was playing somebody last night who is really good, but not a cheap player. I won 6 out of 20 matches (which is good for me, considering the only character I've unlocked so far is Sakura). Since we kept playing random, I got a couple of characters I never used before (like C. Viper and Rufus), and I didn't do too badly with some of them. I think I have a short thumb, because I have so much trouble doing some moves (and most moves consistently. I see great openings for certain moves, and wind up pulling a medium punch at best). I switched the low punch/kick like you did, Jon, but didn't realize those are the throw buttons I'll have to set it up like you did (w/o the taunt, because I'm not good enough to taunt, and if I am, I have the wireless headpiece, so I can do my own )

That's cool dude, here's a tip for unlocking the charcters quickly. Set the game mode to "easiest" and "1 round". Except for Gouken, Akuma, and Seth, you'll be able to unlock everyone in no time. And yeah I rarely taunt either, only if my opponent taunts me.
Certain moves have shortcuts in SFIV, like Ryu's Shoryuken and Zangief's Piledriver. The nice thing is these are common motions used for other players moves and work on them as well.
Ryu's shoryuken shortcut motion also works to perform Ken's, Sagat's uppercut, and also works to perform Cammy's "Cannon Spike" and other various named moves w/the same motion for characters... (This also works to perform Sagats Tiger Knee, Fei Longs Flaming Kick, Ryu's Hurricane Kick ect in reverse order). For more info on this look at this link: http://www.eventhubs.com/guides/2009/may/04/shortcut-motions-shoryukens-dragon-punches-street-fighter-4/
I'm not sure if you're a Zangief Player, but same applies for his 360 motion moves, you don't have to do the whole thing. That one's a lil' hard to explain though. It's like this:
Which is much easier to perform. I also learned this works to perform Cammy's Hooligan Throw as well.
Hope this helps man.
