1tb drives are going for under a hundred. I think the 80gb drives for Xbox (possibly PS3 also) are still like 150... Ridiculous.
But seriously, is that the main issue? I mean, what the frack difference does it make what model hard drive you have? You're still playing over the same network, which is still connecting to M$'s servers which they have more or less absolute control over. Geez... What, your "Holy Hell Daughters of Anarchy Automatic Slug Projectile" Unit is now shooting 37500 rounds a minute, instead of the "Microsoft approved" 37350 rounds a minute?

hahahaha yeah i know right!!!
yeah....microsoft rips you for everything with xox. Yeah, they figure if you flash your drive with diferent firmware than you are probably stealing games too so they just ban everyone with unapproved read speeds.
And true, ps3 does let you use your own drive. there is a way to use your own drive with 360 too and its easy but of course you have to set it up on your own and its not just plug and play like PS3
