death to a console

Well, my launch 360 PRo with the old 95nm chip has finally died...... afterall the times i sent it in for repair and all the times i fixed it for myelf, my 360 finally lays to rest for good. No worries though. I still have my flashed 360 with the cooler and quieter 65nm chip. And i am going to get a RROD elite today for $30....red rings are easy to fix. Heat sink pads go right under the x plates under the drive over the 4 chipsets on the motherboard and poof, permanent RROD fix. But...thought id share that the first 360s off the line have a 76% failure rate and mine was one of them......good luck to 360 owners. PS3s are at a 0.2% failure rate (failed blu-ray lazers, or the drive stops spinning the discs) so i should be safe but never know. My co-worker's bluray drive died and they fixed it for him. would have cost $315 if he didnt have the warranty.

That sucks man. SOrry to hear it. Thats why I never and will never buy an Xbox or any other Microsoft home game system. The concept of the red ring of death was ludicrous to begin with.

Im sticking with Sony for now. My old PS2 is still running strong with absolutely no problems. Used it almost everyday to watch movies and play games. Good machine.

While the RRoD is still a problem, I wouldn't count out Microsoft altogether. My original Xbox is still going strong and that came out in 2001?

Hopefully next console will be made more like the first.

I'd like to see a controller that matches the balance of a PS2/snes controller and a smaller scale system before Id ever consider it. emoticon

See. That's what's keeping me from wanting to get a 360. even though they have more RPG's (which I LOVE), I'm not wanting to invest that kind of money on something that's going to crash and burn on me almost without fail! GRRR!

I might have to get myself a PS3

Yeah thanks man....that console was on its last breath so i was expecting it to happen.

Yeah my first gen xbox1 is an original and it still works even with the Drive flashed for copied games (its a samsung dvd drive. The xboxs with the philips drives had big issues with the first gen. the philips would stop working after about a year).

Xbox360 has great games and thats the only thing that keeps me from throwing the s**tbox180 out the friggin window.
PS3 FTW!

Don't think of it as the death of a console, think of it as the birth of a doorstop!

Hey Law, if you're gonna send that 360 in you should probably do it now. Even though it's been announced Microsoft no longer has the coffin service, when mine died last month I was still able to get the free box to send it in via the xbox live website. (The option hasn't been taken down, if you call they will tell you the program has been discontinued though).
