There's an alt OS for the PS3 (linux based) that can run a PS2 emulator (so it's definitely possible on the Sony OS for PS3). It's just that they won't release that 'patch' since PS2 units still sell. I actually read a quote from one of the members of Sony's playstation team stating this in an interview. People neeed to stop buying those damn PS2 and get with the new. As for the price drops, i think this brings a bigger opportunity for game developers to start pooping out more A+ games. Cant wait!nondisclosed_email@example.com (spiderLAW)Wed, 26 Aug 2009 05:11:43 +0000 Re: PS3 & Xbox 360 Elite both drop to $299...https://b1narcomicunderworld.runboard.com/p7053,from=rss#post7053https://b1narcomicunderworld.runboard.com/p7053,from=rss#post7053They keep saying no backwards compatibility, but truthfully, it's in the *software* now, not the hardware. (MGS, Infamous, Uncharted). But mainly I want my own Blu-Ray player. Since they run like $200 anyways, might as well get a gaming console as well. It bothers me that they killed the option of Backwards compatibility though... There's a few GTA titles that came out on PS2 that I always wanted to check out that I can't now. And the 360 has also decided to play ball droping the Elite to $299 as well. http://arstechnica.com/gaming/news/2009/08/microsoft-responds-to-ps3-price-cut-hardware-update-coming.ars The nice thing about this is it has the 120GB HDD and an HDMI port. So now all 3 consoles are relatively pretty affordable. $299 for a PS3, $199 for an arcade 360 or $299 for a real 360. And $249 for a Wii. I used to want a Wii, but there's only 2 games I'd want to buy for it and just don't think it'd be worth it... What I really want is a real HD tv... I've got one of the very first steps into HD television meaning I'm on 720p via component cables... No HDMI port. And I can def. see the difference between the two when I play on my brothers tv which is 1080i via HDMI for the 360 hookup. One day I'll have a real tv... hehnondisclosed_email@example.com (Artsta)Mon, 24 Aug 2009 23:24:54 +0000
